REQUIREMENTS FOR BEING A COACH
Becoming a youth football coach is an exciting and rewarding role, but it requires a mix of skills, knowledge, and commitment. Here are the key requirements for being a successful youth football coach:
Passion for the Sport: A genuine love for football and enthusiasm to share that passion with young players is essential. Coaches should inspire kids to love the game, learn teamwork, and develop skills.
Knowledge of the Game: A good understanding of football rules, strategies, and techniques is vital. Coaches should be able to teach players proper fundamentals, such as passing, blocking, and tackling, and also introduce more advanced concepts as they progress.
Communication Skills: Being able to clearly explain instructions, give feedback, and keep kids engaged is crucial. Good communication helps in building trust, keeping players motivated, and addressing any issues that arise.
Patience and Empathy: Youth players are at various skill levels, and some may need more time or encouragement. A good coach is patient, understanding, and supportive, helping players feel comfortable and confident.
Organization and Planning: Youth football coaches need to be organized when planning practices, drills, and games. Having a structured approach ensures that players stay focused and can improve their skills effectively.
First Aid and Safety Knowledge: Ensuring player safety is a top priority. Coaches should have a basic understanding of first aid and know how to handle injuries or emergencies. 1st Aid and CPR certification required
Certification and Training: Must be willing to get USA Football Certification for youth Tackle. USA Football Certification
Positive Role Model: As a youth coach, you must set a good example both on and off the field. Demonstrating good sportsmanship, respect for others, and a commitment to fair play helps shape the character of young athletes.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Coaches should work well with assistant coaches, parents, and league officials. Building a positive and cohesive environment around the team promotes success both in practices and in games.
Commitment to Development: Youth football is about more than just winning games; it's about helping kids grow as athletes and individuals. A good coach is dedicated to their players' long-term development and strives to foster an enjoyable and inclusive environment.
By combining these elements, youth football coaches can help children build confidence, develop athletic skills, and learn important life lessons through the sport.
Field Monitor- (Adult volunteers only)
Every game we are required to have field monitors (2 at home games and 1 at away games)
Responsibilities are below-

Chains-
We need 2 people for every home game to hold the chains. You will move them up and down the field as directed by the officials. It's a great way to get up close to the action.
Down Marker-
We need 1 person at every home game to hold the down marker. You will be directed by the official when to change it and where to stand. It's also a great way to get up close to the action.
Stand Monitor- 2 people per game- Ensure that the fans in the stand are adhering to the code of conduct. If any issues arise to alert a board member or Field Monitor.
Concessions-
We need at least 4 people at every home game running concessions. The more people the more we have the more we can offer including hot food like pizza, chili soups, hot dogs etc. If you have a food handlers permit that's even better.
Job duties include standing for duration of a game (1.5-2 hours) behind a counter, filling food orders, taking payments using our clover payment system (we will show you), and handling cash (taking and giving change).
We also need help setting up the concessions and cleaning up afterwards .
Field Maintenance-
Sometimes when we have to use the middles school field we need to have it marked (painted). We could use the assistance in preparing the field.
Also after the home games we need assistance in cleaning the stands, track, field. Taking the trash to the dumpsters, putting in new garbage bags, putting away the gear and concessions.
Fundraising-
We have a couple fundraisers throughout the year and would love more help running those!
Examples; car wash & krispy kreme fundraiser.
